The Ridings of Yorkshire Society is a new group dedicated to celebrating Yorkshire’s past, and its researchers, across a variety of disciplines. Formed in 2021, we held our first annual conference at the Blaydes Maritime Centre in Hull. The event was a great success, and was followed by our second annual conference at the Leeds City Museum in June 2023. The conference will once again return in 2024, at the University of Huddersfield’s Heritage Quay on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th June. Our Call for Papers is now open and can be accessed here.
Since our first conference we’ve continued to look for ways in which ROYS can grow. In 2022, we were delighted to launch our podcast, ROYSCast, which currently provides the main output for the group outside of the conference. We’re keen to continue to expand ROYS’ offering and are looking into ways that we can offer a membership structure and more content. Keep your eyes peeled for future updates about ROYS.
