Welcome to the website of the Ridings of Yorkshire Society.
ROYS is a group dedicated to researching celebrating Yorkshire’s past, and its researchers, across a variety of disciplines. The group was formed in 2021 by 6 PhD candidates at the University of Hull working on a variety of aspects of Yorkshire’s past. However, this isn’t a group for Hull students, or even just history students! ROYS is for anyone working on Yorkshire’s past, from any discipline or subject!
The 2026 conference will be held at York Explore Library on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June 2026. Our Call for Papers is now live, and can be accessed here.
